Overview of the program

Located in Florianopolis, Brazil, Avaí Futebol Clube offers a unique football learning experience for young players from 15 to 19 years old who want to improve their performance and pursue the career of a professional football player. The duration of the program is typically from 1 to 3 months, however we also accept players who wish to stay up to 6 months.

Each athlete is different. What is your objective? Playing in your favorite club or representing your country at the World Cup? In Brazil young football players go through on average 5,000 hours of training to master basic football skills (short passes, long passes, control, dribbling etc…). Players coming back with injuries need to do specific training which stimulates structural and functional adaptations. Everyone is at a different development stage and looks for training with a different objective. This is why we think that your training at the Avaí Academy should be personalized and monitored on a continuous basis to let you know how you are performing in relation to your objective and what you should do to achieve your goals.

Receiving clean training gear before every training session and spending the 24 hours before the match together with your team are part of professional Brazilian football culture. We would like you to experience the life of a professional football player in Brazil. You will have a mentor from our Professional team and you will have an opportunity to assist the training sessions and officiate matches of our Professional Team. You will even have a chance to travel with our coaching staff and players to an away match!

Fala Português? Speaking Portuguese is one of the important facilitators of your integration in our academy. Our coaches and few administrative staff speak fluent English, but your sporting and social experience will be a whole lot better if you can communicate with your Brazilian teammates and in social settings. This program includes 2 weekly Portuguese lessons with an English-speaking teacher with emphasis on football vocabularies. In addition to exposure to the club’s administration (marketing, finance and legal), you will attend an introduction session on sports science at a university or participate in classes at a local high school. We also would like you to be a part of our social programs to visit hospitals and orphanages with fellow Brazilian players.

Playing football in Brazil is very competitive even at the end of teenage years. Unlike other academy programs in Brazil, we guide you to trials with universities with scholarship programs, high-schools with a strong football team and clubs in your country through our extensive network.

With its 42 beaches, Florianopolis is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Brazil. In addition to optional trips to assist away matches, our Event Coordinator has organized various sightseeing and excursions.
